Do you need to train like a CrossFit games athlete to get fit?

Luke Cormican – Boyneside Gym Home of CrossFit Drogheda

The number of people taking part in CrossFit or using CrossFit methodologies in their training is growing each year since the sport first started in the early 2000s. Along with the sport growing and reaching new heights, the top athletes compete at the world championships (The Crossfit Games) each year. As the sport grows in popularity, so does the difficulty of qualifying for the games.

In recent years, those who need to qualify must commit to training full-time to achieve this goal. However, that doesn’t mean that YOU need to be training upwards of 5 hours a day to get fit! The CrossFit definition of fitness is “an individual’s work capacity across broad time and modal domains,” We know that by holding this constant and putting in the effort each day, an individual can get great results.

The proof is in the pudding, and our members will agree that as long as you are consistent in your efforts, you can become fitter than you have ever been, as well as feeling more confident in your skin! Our classes and programs can be modified to an individual’s ability, meaning our group workouts are suitable for someone new to structured exercise or a person who has been training for years!

The variance in the programming will ensure you never get bored of your training, and you keep on seeing the strength and fitness gains no matter how long you have been training with us. The CrossFit methodology has relative intensity as one of its core ingredients to improving fitness. So as long as you are working hard enough, you will see results in your fitness, how you look and feel. With each of these details in mind, the main idea is that as long as you show up consistently and put in the effort, you can see great results in as little as 3-4 hours a week of training, so as long as we keep up the hard work, the improvements will always keep coming along!
